Pub Dancer Amy in Shanghai
Amy was leaning against the balcony baluster in Lao Xi Men area of Shanghai. Her eyes, had just awoken from last night’s dancing feast, her routine job for three years in La Maison pub in the Xin Tian Di Pub area in Shanghai.
She came from France where she had taken professional dance training. Later, she was invited by a friend, who is the stage director of La Maison, where she became the leading dancer.
At 9 pm every night, Amy and her boyfriend Mig were on the stage of La Maison wearing gorgeous suits. Dancing until midnight would leave them exhausted of all their strength.
They did not know Chinese language and had no friends in Shanghai. If there was nothing to buy from outside, they would spend most of the afternoon just staying home playing the guitar, or playing computer games together. They loved each other very much and warmed each other in this unfamiliar city.
Mig was from Mexico and worked as manager of a pub when he met Amy. They fell in love in Mexico city when Amy worked there years ago. One year later after Amy came to Shanghai, Mig resigned his pub manager job and joined her in Shanghai. Mig was encouraged by Amy to learn to be a dancer in La Maison.
The happiest thing for Mig and Amy was the good salary they got from La Maison. With the savings they wanted to realize their dream to build their own pub in southern France. Maybe, many years later in a sunny afternoon in their Chinese style pub in south France, Mig and Amy would miss the rainy afternoons in Shanghai where they had their striving and loving story.
PS:
La Maison pub, which is in Xin Tian Di pub area in Shanghai, is owned by a French person. It is famous for its special French dish and “Red Mill” style dancing performances. Shai, an Israeli guy, was invited to manage La Maison and the staff which came from 20 different countries.
